Coronavirus in Poland: ZUS will help you – deferral of contributions

March 18, 2020

The coronavirus-related situation is uneasy not only because of health issues. Entrepreneurs from all over the world are quivering while waiting for an economic impact of the pandemic.

How to save a company during the epidemic?

If the coronavirus affects also your business and financial standing, ZUS comes up with help. It is possible to:

  • defer – by 3 months – due dates for contributions for the months from February to April 2020,

or

  • suspend – for 3 months – execution of an agreement, which was concluded with the Social Insurence Institution (ZUS), if the due date for installments or contributions is set from March to May 2020. In this way, the deadline for implementation of such an agreement will be postponed by 3 months.

If you want to use the help, all you have to do is submit an appropriate application. The application can be submitted in three ways:

  • by PUE platform,
  • in paper form in a box available in ZUS,
  • sent by post.

In the current situation, it is possible to provide as first scans of required documents on the basis of which ZUS will issue a decision. However, within 14 days from the date of termination of the epidemic, you will have to provide originals of these documents.

The application should describe how the coronavirus epidemic affected the company’s financial standing and caused the inability to pay contributions on time. When conducting full accounting, the application should be accompanied by a balance sheet for 2018 or 2019.

Who is ZUS providing support for?

In the event of a positive consideration, ZUS will send documents (contract and documents related to public assistance) by post or to an e-mail address provided in the application. You must sign the documents and send back to the Social Insurance Institution.

The above-mentioned forms of assistance will not be available to entrepreneurs who have received „de minimis” state aid in excess of EUR 200,000 within 3 years. If after 3 months the situation of your company does not improve, you can renegotiate the contract concluded with ZUS.
