Being a Mom is also a job!

May 26, 2021

Some women devote their entire lives to motherhood, giving up professional development. Other women prefer to combine work with raising children. All mothers want to fulfill themselves in their own way and we appreciate the beauty of this diversity. Let’s not forget, however, that being a mother is not a full-time job, but you have to work 24 hours a day. This job is difficult, demanding and responsible. So we asked how the women in our company find themselves in this crazy race for a moment for themselves, when they want to work at the same time. Here you can read some words that they decided to share with you today.

Motherhood is a beautiful gift, but at the same time  – very demanding. It is often very difficult for an active mother to reconcile work with taking care of children. VGD, however, enables mothers to reconcile these life roles. Adapted working hours or the possibility of remote work are advantages. Also the Christmas meetings with children organized by the company are a nice 🙂

As a future mother, currently 7 months pregnant, I can see great support and understanding from the employer. There is absolutely no problem with making a doctor’s appointment, visiting a physiotherapist or working remotely within working hours.

Thanks to this, I had no problem deciding that I wanted to work until the due date and then, when the toddler appears, develop further professionally and thus giving up maternity leave. I am sure that the reconciliation of the role of HR Manager in our company and the new role of mother will be possible due to the support of the employer and help from my husband 🙂

In addition, at VGD, we care for the family life of employees – there is no problem for an employee to come to work with his/her child. We are currently creating a children’s corner and a playground in the garden.

VGD is trying to meet the expectations of mothers with babies, although the pandemic has changed some plans. Currently, we can work remotely, which makes our work easier and we do not waste time standing in traffic jams – we can easily make it to kindergarten. The employer also plans to make a playroom for children so that they can sometimes be taken to the office with you.

The added value of working at VGD is the ability to work remotely in the event of a child’s illness or when educational institutions are closed. I am not worried about who will be taking care of the child, because I can combine taking care of my kid and work in my home. The employer also looks favorably on the presence of children in the office, so I don’t feel embarrassed when  my child is with me at my desk.

I have been working at VGD since my return from “maternity break”. Nobody had any doubts that the “young mother” would not be able to combine work with childcare. Mothers of all people  know that being a mother is a profession of many skills and it is useful in many aspects (also in work as an accountant). Such qualities and skills are appreciated and supported by an employer like VGD. 🙂

The pressure to go back to work as soon as possible (I did experience it), and on the other hand, the pressure from the family that you have to be with the child who grows up  every day at home for as long as possible is huge. Fortunately, there was a pandemic, which finally verified and proved that the employee working from home is effective and valuable. I do not know how many people noticed it earlier, but a year and a half ago, people who wanted to work remotely, because they did not want to waste time traveling from a distance, were treated differently by their colleagues. The rest of the crew believed that this person was favored and that it was, in a way, a benefit that they did not deserve.

The calling staff of our kids’ nursery always causes the faster heartbeat and some fears. Fortunately, I know that in any such situation one word is enough and in a few minutes I can be with my child.
